Iron Deficiency Home Test (1 Test)
The Iron Deficiency test is a simple at-home finger-prick blood test to quickly check your iron levels. Iron is an important mineral your body needs to make healthy red blood cells. If you don’t have enough iron, your body cannot make enough red blood cells, which could result in a condition called iron deficiency anaemia.
Knowing the reason for “feeling tired” is essential for your overall health: 12-15% of women and 2% of men are iron deficient. If iron deficiency is left unchecked, it can affect your brain, physical fitness and immune system.
How to Use
- Pull off and dispose cap of lancet

FAQs
What is the Ferritin Rapid Test Cassette?
The Ferritin Rapid Test Cassette is a quick and simple test for detecting ferritin levels in human fingerstick blood. Ferritin is a protein that stores iron inside your cells, and its level can help indicate whether you might have iron deficiency anaemia.
What is the intended use of the Ferritin Rapid Test Cassette?
The test is designed for self-testing and is only to be used for diagnostics. It aims to identify ferritin levels in human blood. A ferritin concentration below 30 ng/ml may indicate an iron deficiency.
How does the Ferritin Rapid Test Cassette work?
The test uses a lateral flow immunoassay to detect ferritin in your blood. If your ferritin level is above 30 ng/ml, a coloured line appears in the test region. If the ferritin concentration is below 30 ng/ml, this line doesn't appear. A coloured line will always appear in the control region, indicating that the test has been performed correctly.
How do I interpret the results of the test?
If two coloured lines appear, this means the ferritin concentration in your blood is normal. If only one coloured line appears (in the control region), the ferritin concentration in your blood is too low, indicating a possible iron deficiency. If no line appears in the control region, the test is invalid and needs to be repeated.
Are there any precautions I should take when using the Ferritin Rapid Test Cassette?
Yes, you should read all instructions before using the test. The test should not be used if the packaging is damaged, and it should not be used after its expiration date. The test must be stored at room temperature or refrigerated (between 2-30 °C), and you should not eat, drink, or smoke in the area where the test is being conducted.
What should I do if the result is abnormal?
If the result is abnormal, indicating a ferritin level below 30 ng/ml, you should consult a physician, as this may indicate an iron deficiency.
Can this test give inaccurate results?
The results are generally accurate if the instructions are followed carefully. However, incorrect procedures, such as insufficient blood volume or the test getting wet before use, can lead to incorrect results. Also, there may be rare cases of false results due to problems with the immune system. Therefore, it is always recommended to consult with a doctor for such tests.
What should I do if the result is normal but I still have symptoms?
If the result is normal, but symptoms persist, you should talk to a doctor.
Can the Ferritin Rapid Test Cassette be used to diagnose other conditions?
Low ferritin levels may indicate other conditions such as hypothyroidism, vitamin C deficiency, or coeliac disease. It is also seen in some patients with restless legs syndrome. However, for a confirmed diagnosis, you should consult with a healthcare professional.
